Sao Tome & Principe cacao is considered a flavor grade top quality cocoa. However, most Sao Tome cacao beans are not handled properly, this is because it is very hard for the farmers of such small island to fulfill the demand for it's unique origin cacao.

 

The typical values of the beans we source from the island have shown 0% mouldy, wormy, slaty and flat beans.

 

Sao Tome cacao beans has strong cocoa notes and spice.

 

Sao Tome, the chocolate island, used to be first producer in the beginning of 20st century. At this time, the country was a colony of Portugal. In 1975, the island became independent, the cocoa industry fell into a state of abandonment. Today, some of this old plantation are being recovered.
